Public Consultation: External Emergency Plans: Mayo Industrial Sites

Mayo County Council, in conjunction with An Garda Síochána and the HSE, has released draft external emergency plans for two major industrial sites in the county:

  1. Bellanaboy Bridge Gas Terminal, Bellagelly South, Barnatra

  2. European Refreshments plant, Killala Road, Ballina

These plans, required under the Chemicals Act (Control of Major Accidents Hazards Involving Dangerous Substances) Regulations, outline emergency response procedures for potential off-site incidents and coordination of on-site assistance in the event of major accidents.

The draft plans can be viewed from 27th January to 21st February 2025 (excluding weekends and bank holidays) between 09:30-13:00 and 14:00-16:30 at:

●      HSE Primary Care Business Managers Office, First Floor, St. Mary's Headquarters, Castlebar

●      Ballina Garda Station, Lord Edward Street

●      Belmullet Garda Station, Fr. Mulhern Crescent

●      Mayo Fire Service, Fire Brigade HQ, Humbert Way, Castlebar
